National Museum of Slovenia The year is an important year in the history of Freemasonry since it marks the th anni- versary of modern Freemasonry, in other words the founding of the first Grand Lodge in the world — the Grand Lodge of London and Westminster, the predecessor of the United Grand Lodge of England.
The anniversary has been an occasion for discussions and research and for a reflection on Freemasonry around the world. This conference attracted more than two thousand participants. To coincide with the exhibition, an international symposium was organised to shed light on the history of Freemasonry, with a particular focus on Central Europe.
The present Proceedings are the result of the international symposium.
